Consultant Post with Particular Interest in Cross Sectional Imaging

Description:

This post is a new post developed to assist us to expand and enhance our rapidly growing imaging services. It is a full time (10 PA) post, but we can accommodate applicants who wish to work on part-time contracts. Similarly we will consider applicants who wish to commence on more than 10 PAs. The appointee(s) will join 15 Consultant colleagues, and will also participate in the on call general Radiology rota at Victoria Hospital. The successful candidate will join a multi-professional team based in the Radiology Department at the Victoria Hospital site and will also give clinical opinions at our community hospitals within the Trust and at our services provided within the primary care setting. The appointee must be on the specialist register for Diagnostic Radiology. Particular interest in developing cross sectional imaging is required. The post holder will be employed by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Experienced Sonographer


Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHSF Trust is a leading health care provider and is at the forefront of ultrasound service provision across all pathways. We aim to consistently provide high quality, timely care to all of our patients.


The radiology department is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced sonographer to add to our multi-professional team. We offer a wide range of ultrasound services including Obstetrics, Gynaecology, MSK, General Abdominal, Urological and an urgent surgical assessment service. The service is delivered across the Victoria Hospital site, two community hospitals and a large primary walk-in centre, to take the service close to the patient.

As a department, we are committed to education and are proactive in encouraging and supporting Continuing Professional Development and audit. We have developed a sonographer-lead HyCoSy service and are working to deliver an urgent surgical "hot clinic" service to reduce admissions.

In order to apply for this post, you must possess PGD in Medical Ultrasound, DMU or equivalent and have some experience working as a sonographer in an ultrasound department.
